brutally murdered in Wayne County in April of 1866 by his two sons as a
murder for hire. The two sons were apprehended by Joseph Loper in Hancock
County, MS in July of that same year.
Looking for court records regarding the disposition of the case. Williams
wives were Caroline Davis, then Sydney Farmer and then, Mary Loper.
After Williams death, Mary Loper remarried a Gatlin.

in 1870's. She married George Stanley in 1895. I have found

I am researching the Patton family of Wayne County, MS. Family tradition has
four Patton brothers, William, Arthur, James, and Joseph and their father,
James, from Abbeville, SC in Wayne County as early as 1807. James Patton
served in War of 1812, was a delegate to MS Constitutional Convention of 1817
and served as the State's first lieutenant governor. These early Patton
families were devout Methodists and settled along the Chickasawhay River in

community for rearing. I have no record of Martha's marriage but the
other girls were finally married in the 1870's in Choctaw County, ALA,
where Martha lived after marrying William Thomas Linder. Does anyone

STARLING I am researching the family of Francis Marion STARLING who married Dora
Ann "Kate" GARNER. Francis Marion was the son of Caleb and Penelope
(PARKS) STARLING, and Dora Ann was the dau. of John and Matilda (MARTIN)
GARNER. They moved to Wayne Co., Miss. after the Civil War. Their
children were John T, Kate M., James W., Caleb L., and Charles Ward who
married his 1st cousin, Theresa Tissue GARNER and moved to Johnson Co., Tx.
Both Francis Marion and Dora Ann died in Waynesboro, Wayne Co., Miss. and
are buried in the Waynesboro Cemetery. Francis Marion died 17 February
1921, and Dora Ann died 14 November 1921. Any leads on this family and

In 1865 a JOHN MOORE who resided in Wayne County, Mississippi, signed
land transaction papers in Mobile, Alabama, on behalf of Polly Berry
EVERITT Moore. I want to know if John Moore was related to Polly's
husband, William Lee Moore. Was he maybe a cousin or a brother?
William Lee Moore's parents are supposed to be William R. Moore and
Lavie? LEE. I cannot find a record of them. William Lee Moore and
Polly Berry Everitt were married in Washington County, Alabama on
1 November 1838, and resided in Choctaw County, Alabama, and Mobile.
They were forced to leave Mobile during the Civil War and eventually
settled in Texas.

1857, but I have been unsuccessful in locating a marriage record for them. The

DATE: Oct 17, 1998 I'm trying to find my Choctaw connection. The oldest living relative on that side of my family is in a nursing home. She says Annie Pearson was their grandmother and she was Choctaw. Annie was raped by a relative and had a daughter named Emily Pearson who became my great-grandmother. She married a McLain from Wayne County. Emily is buried in Boyles Chapel Cemetery in Wayne County, which is 8-10 miles past Arrington Cemetery between Laurel and Waynesboro. Annie's father was Christopher Pearson. It follows that Christopher would have been a Choctaw as well. Anyway, this is all I have on them. I can't find anything on the cemetery online and my inquiry to the Choctaw reservation was unanswered. wayne county. John and Peggy (Baskin) Strickland gave birth in 1820 to
Soloman Strickland. John's father was also Soloman, who I think was
married to Amy Pace.

He was born Nov. 24,1903. He had tatoos on both arms with a star tatoo on the
back of one hand. He had two half brothers, William and Henry. One brother

I am seeking information on Azalene Bunch, born 15 Nov 1850, in
Waynesboro, MS, to Lovick Bunch and wife, Elizabeth -?-. Azalene
married Andrew Jackson Brown of Pontotoc, MS. They had one child who
reached adulthood. The Browns moved to Aberdeen, Monroe Co., MS, in the
1880's and are buried here. Any information on Azalene's ancestry would

The Carroll family is trying to acquire a will that was written around
1820 for a Absalom CARROLL who lived in Wayne County. I'm a descendant
of Benjamin Frankln CARROLL one of the nine children that he had by his
fourth wife name Elinor ROBINSON. B.F. Carroll lived in Copiah and
Lauderdale County before moving to Texas in 1847. There also could be a
will for B.F. Carroll who died in 1869 that can not be found. Any
information that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.

Desire links around and upstream of Josiah HORN Sr. (particularly spouse),
father of Delaney (Sallie) HORN (b. NC; d. WayneCo,MS). Delaney was wife of
Jesse Franklin TOUCHSTONE (b. 1774 NC; d. 1849 AR) who appear in the
Barnwell District of SC before 1800 when they obtained passports from the
governor of GA to cross Creek territory to MS. In 1790 Josiah Horn was in
the Orangeburgh District (southern part) of SC and appears in the census
with 1 male +16 (probably himself) and 2 males -16, 4 white females
(possibly Delaney included).

My g.g.grandfather Thomas Hardy Hutchinson came to America from
Derbyshire, England abt. 1849. He married Lucinda Dement and quickly
started a career of establishing schools in Wayne and Jones Co. Ms. and
Choctaw, Al. Thomas was the first superintendent of schools in Wayne
Co. I have quite a bit of family names and dates and am willing to
share. I am also hoping to find information. It has been said that
Thomas came to the U.S. with two brothers. Does anyone have knowledge
of the two brothers? What are their names? Where did they settle?

in Chicora from 1878 till their deaths in 1925 and 1929 respectively. I
